It’s okay, Harvey has forgiven me. Nuzzling and headbutting services have resumed as normal.
He’s still afraid of the kitten though.
On the books front – I’m reading a proof of the new Vikas Swarup, and also re-reading “This Book Will Save Your LIfe” (for a book club, so I can get the sequence of events straight in my addled head). Both of them are great books (I will devote a post to raving about A.M. Homes at some time in the near future…possibly when my brain is working again and my toes are not being attacked by a teething kitten…).
I also have a copy of “Persepolis” which I should really be digging into as well (am suffering severe culture-guilt by neither having read it nor seen the movie) and have also pledged to re-read “The Watchmen”…because I saw the trailer for the movie.
All that fine stuff to read and instead I’m busily modding my linux desktop, making it do pretty things, and generally behaving like an avoidant geek. The modding is so it’s all nice and pretty for when I leave the world of windows (and all its inherent temptations *cough WoW cough*) for the month of November when I’ll be doing the nanowrimo thang again (because sometimes even farming primal water is more tempting than coming up with 1667 words a day).
I have no idea why I’m doing all of this now. Perhaps because said kitty is making it impossible to do anything that requires any staying power (he eats the corners of books and attacks the pages as I turn them, builds nests in my hair when I’m trying to play WoW, and is generally wreaking havoc and depredation, but in a very cute way) so it’s easier just to faff about with pointless things for the moment.
Still, I should really get some reading done – I’ll just wait til he falls asleep.
